Portugal - Four Solar Power Plants to be Built in Alentejo

Four new unsubsidized solar power plants will be built in Portugal’s southern Alentejo region through an investment of over €110 million.
“We are developing four projects in the Alentejo due to the available resources, but we are also interested in expanding this project throughout the country as long as there are conditions for that,” Francisco Ribeiro, from Energi-innovation, said.
 
According to the company, the four new power plants will produce around 270 gigawatt-hours of energy per year, the equivalent of annual energy consumption of almost 60,000 homes.
Portugal’s renewable electricity production exceeded monthly production in March, according to the country’s power grid operator REN.
