Retirement Visa
If you are a non-EU/ EEA/ Swiss citizen RETIREE and intend to move to Portugal, you may benefit from a specific residence permit and a special tax status ("NHR" status) that allows a 10-year of zero income tax.
This residence permit is a less expensive option than Portugal other residency schemes and does not prevent the holder from having a professional activity in Portugal.
Once the main applicant obtain his residency card, his/her immediate family members can be reunified.

REQUIREMENTS
RESIDENCY RENEWALS:
Residency must be renewed at the end of year 1 then every two years. To apply for the Permanent Residency at the end of year 5, the residency holder should pass a basic Portuguese language test.
At the end of year 6, residency holder can apply for the Portuguese passport.
MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS
Residency holder is expected not to be away from Portugal for more than 6 consecutive months or 8 non-consecutive months during the validity of each permit. For the holder of a permanent residence permit, this is increased to either 24 consecutive months or else 30 non-consecutive months in any given period of 3 years.
We will assist in every step of the residency process and later on in the citizenship application starting with the residency application at the designated embassy, assisting with the relocation, advising on the right property and the tax matters in Portugal.
